The Cayos Cochinos (Cochino Cays) are a group of two small islands and 12 small sand cays located 19 miles Northeast of La Ceiba on the coast of Honduras. In 1993 the Honduran Government declared the area of Cayos Cochinos as a Natural Protected Area.
Cayos Cochinos forms part of the second largest barrier reef system in the world known as the Meso-American Barrier Reef System and one of the key areas of the Barrier Reef to preserve.
